Plato can be seen as the first idealist, who established the foundations of the ruling class's ideology. He literally believed that the 'real' world was some imagination land of ideas (the Form world), and that our material reality was merely a reflection of that world.

Aristotle, on the other hand, denied this claim and professed that ideas do not exist independent of our material reality. He btfo Plato by establishing all truths as either analytic or empirical.

Yes, because the ruling classes in Ancient Greece totally wanted equal rights for women, no private property and a government controlled by philosophers, right? No, they didn't, so stop spreading this uninspired idea that Plato was the first totalitarian or something, that might flow by easily in liberal universities but anyone who has actually read Plato knows that his politics were infinitely superior to Aristotle's reductionist reactionary views.

Just want to clarify, I didn't mean the ruling class of Greece specifically, but the ruling class throughout history. Then again, I would have to concede that Aristotle was the base from which Aquinas established Natural Law theory.

Anyways, I was more focused on their individual methods than their political conclusions. Still working on educating myself on this stuff, I'm just positing what I've learned so far. If I'm wrong so be it.
